These swirls, also known as whorls, are most commonly found on the head, the face in particular. There are theories surrounding whorls and how they dictate personality characteristics in horses. Here are a few mentioned by Horse Nation:<\/p>\n<p><b><i>1)\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 A<\/i><\/b><b><i>\u00a0whorl positioned right above the eyes\u00a0<\/i><\/b>represents the most common whorl and tends to result in an even-tempered and uncomplicated creature.<\/p>\n<p><b><i>2)\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/i><\/b><b><i>Whorls below the eyes\u00a0<\/i><\/b>usually results in a horse with a higher IQ. In other words, this below-the-eye whorl horse might be a trickster who likes to plan his or her escape out of their stall in the morning.<b><i>\u00a0<\/i><\/b>They are inquisitive and can be sneaky.<\/p>\n<p><b><i>3)\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/i><\/b><b><i>Whorls on the left of the face\u00a0<\/i><\/b>could suggest a complicated but trustworthy horse.<b><i><\/i><\/b><\/p>\n<p><b><i>4)\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/i><\/b><b><i>Whorls on the right\u00a0<\/i><\/b>can indicate an obstinate personality.<\/p>\n<p><b><i>5)\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/i><\/b>\u00a0<b><i>Horses with one long whorl\u00a0<\/i><\/b>tend to be people-friendly.<\/p>\n<p><b><i>6) \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0Double whorl<\/i><\/b>\u00a0horses can have multiple personalities. I would say Boomer is for sure people friendly and I guess he is pretty uncomplicated but he can certainly have an explosive streak. That&#8217;s pretty much Nitro to a T.
